Bone China Plates

I have never purchased fancy dishes before.  We have been using the same simple inexpensive white set of dinnerware for many years and I suppose it hasn't been much of a priority of mine.  After 16 years though I finally started thinking about nice dishes to use for holidays and family dinners.  A couple months ago my Mom gave me the set of silverware that my Grandma chose in the early fifties when she got married.  It's called White Orchid, it is beautiful... I was thrilled.  This is what made me start thinking about it.  I found 10 Mikasa Rosemead dinner plates on Ebay for a deal.  I had 3 pieces of this pattern already so I decided to get them.  They arrived in the mail this week.  It will be fun to use them or will I be one of those people that never uses their nice dishes for fear of breaking them...I hope not.

Oh yeah, today I found this sweet vintage basket for $1.99 at the thrift shop.  You can't beat that! ;)
I sure hope you are having a good weekend!  ♥

  2. As of this moment, I am keeping my eyes open for this pattern. I think I have a piece at the store. Do you eventually want service for 10? I use and appreciate my good dishes everyday. I have another set too that I have only used twice. I hope you use these exquisite dishes often. We deserve to eat on beautiful dishes. It makes us prettier!

  4. These are lovely plates. I would be one to keep them on display, if I had a place to display them. Or save them for special occasions.

  12. Bethany,
Your special dishes are beautiful - love them! They'll be perfect for any day selected to make a normal boring meal into something special for you and your family some evening to experience, along with candles; and to teach your children the lost art of etiquette. Wouldn't that be fun! Dress up, be a sophisticated character. Now that sounds like fun!
